Leros


Leros is a beautiful green island belonging to the Dodecanese, an ideal destination for quiet holidays and relaxation.

The capital of Leros is Agia Marina, while the famous Lakki, or Porto Lago, is the main port of the island, built by the Italians in the early 30’s, famous for its magnificent architecture and the beautiful houses.

Leros is a historical island with many sights worth to visit such as the famous ancient Temple of Artemis in Partheni, the Bourtzi Fortress, monuments of the Venetian and Ottoman periods, as well as many castles and museums.

The island is also famous for its excellent beaches with crystal clear waters, such as Vromolithos, Duo Liskaria, Agia Marina and Penteli, all organized with many facilities, but also for the natural beauty of some quiet bays such as Xirokampos, Agios Spyridonas and Merikia.

Visitors can enjoy the local cuisine, the hiking on the paths of the island and the wonderful sea view. It’s also a great experience to visit the traditional villages such as Agia Marina, Alinda, Krithoni, Lakki, Platanos etc.  Every year in August, all-day festivals with traditional musicians and dancers from all over Greece take place on the island offering a chance to meet the local culture.

Nowadays, Leros has become a popular destination with many relaxation and entertainment options. It provides modern tourist accommodation, restaurants, shops and nightlife in all parts of the island, while it offers easy access for excursions to beautiful nearby islands such as Rhodes, Patmos, Kos, Ikaria and Kalymnos.
